An established, growing market research organization with offices in Boston and Los Angeles areas seeks a Focus Group Moderator. This 13-year-old Company provides market research and consulting services in a diverse range of industries. Clients include some of the world's largest multinational corporations, leading national companies and successful niche brands.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Moderators are passionate, high-energy, genuinely interested in people, have a great sense of humor, and are quick on their feet. They dress and play the part whether at a sports venue speaking with teens or in a traditional facility environment addressing a B-B audience.
Our Moderators are responsible for managing and executing qualitative projects at all stages, from contributing to proposal writing and study approach and design to moderating groups, IDIs, and ethnographic / experiential projects. The primary responsibility is to moderate focus groups, prepare and present analysis and interpretation of research, both verbally and written. Secondary responsibilities: bring passion and insight to everything you do. Clients love you!
Project Management:
- Monitor project timelines, quality and deliverables;
- Design and/or oversee the development of all project materials (e.g., screeners, discussion guides, survey designs and questionnaires, topline and full reporting, overseeing video highlights production, etc);
- Secure and lead resources needed from internal team members to efficiently execute projects;
- Effectively manage data, including text, imagery, and/or video throughout project to develop relevant, insightful findings;
- Translate participant feedback into qualitative insights;
- Provide guidance to internal team members while project is in the field.
Analysis/Report Writing:
- Lead/develop client debriefs and/or topline summaries while project is in field;
- Develop final reports including: presentation set-up, data analysis and editorial write up, the selection and inclusion of appropriate respondent quotes, pictures/photos and/or videos as appropriate. This also includes storytelling, writing conclusions and identifying opportunities or recommendations that address client’s business issues;
- Present findings to client (as needed);
- Build multi-media output including video and audio into reporting and personification of consumers.
Client Service:
- Main client contact with a focus on building relationships by understanding client business objectives and managing client expectations;
- Seek new business through proactive business development efforts, e.g., attending conferences, presenting to current and prospective clients, etc.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelors’ Degree minimum; advanced degree preferred.
Knowledge and Experience
- 7-10 years hands-on qualitative research experience;
- Minimum of 100 groups moderated and an equal number of in-person, one-on-ones.
Skills
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills;

- Ability to write creative, strategic proposals and comprehensive yet succinct reports that include creative display of findings and actionable recommendations;
- Ability to synthesize and summarize information and identify underlying concepts, constructs and business implications;
- Ability to make effective verbal presentations.

- Ability to reprioritize as necessary and juggle multiple assignments and heavy/changing schedules, including significant travel.
